Two Product Lines: Narrow Precision & Heavy-Duty Long-Stroke — Differentiated Technical Positioning of SMARTWIN LMS & BMS Linear Motor Modules
Against the industry trend of miniaturized automation equipment and long-distance linked production lines, single-spec linear motor modules cannot satisfy both installation inside compact enclosures and heavy-load ultra-long-stroke conveying demands simultaneously. SMARTWIN Intelligent Equipment has developed two targeted production lines: LMS narrow-body precision linear motor modules and BMS heavy-duty long-stroke linear motor modules. Supported by differentiated design in base structure, guide rail layout and mechanical performance, the products precisely cover two segmented marks of light-load precision applications and heavy-load long-stroke scenarios, building a complementary linear drive linear product matrix.

Core technical positioning of LMS series: Compact & lightweight precision motion unit. This series adopts an ultra-narrow integrated aluminum extrusion base with single-guide layout to minimize the overall transverse width, suitable for integration scenarios with limited internal cavity space of equipment. Optimized internal magnetic circuits deliver low cogging torque and minor speed fluctuation, maintaining stable micron-level repeat positioning accuracy, and the series is specially designed for light-load high-speed micro-positioning processes. The maximum standard travel of the base reaches 2890mm. Nevertheless, restricted by the lightweight single-rail structure, auxiliary support brackets must be added when travel exceeds 2 meters; otherwise, vibration and straightness deviation tend to occur under high-speed operation. With a relatively low overall thrust range, the modules are only applicable to low-load working conditions such as light workpiece handling, visual alignment and auxiliary material mounting. Typical applications mainly cover 3C consumer electronics, semiconductor packaging and miniature optical inspection equipment.

Core technical positioning of BMS series: integrated platform with high rigidity, heavy load & ultra-long stroke. The unit adopts an extended thickened base paired with 15-2 linear guides, which greatly enhances structural bending resistance and torsional rigidity. Its standard maximum travel reaches 5788mm without extra auxiliary supports, and deformation is well controlled during high-speed reciprocating motion over long distances. Continuous thrust covers a wide range from 65N to 3839 N, catering to both light-load high-speed conveyance and medium-load tooling handling. Equipped with a semi-closed thickened sheet metal housing, it delivers superior dust resistance compared with the narrow extruded frame of LMS series. It prevents workshop machining chips and floating dust from invading the guide rails and motor stator/rotor, making it ideal for dusty mass-production lines such as lithium battery stacking, photovoltaic sorting and laser cutting. Dual-guide parallelism calibration is completed at factory delivery, delivering smoother motion across the full long-stroke. Matched with a centralized lubrication system, it features extended maintenance intervals under 7 x 24-hour continuous mass production conditions.

The two modules share identical general technical features: both adopt contact-free direct-drive transmission with a maximum running speed of 5 m/s, eliminating lead screw elastic deformation and timing belt wear. Built-in low-friction sliding pairs ensure low operation noise and minimal dust emission. An external centralized lubrication fitting simplifies routine maintenance. They support full ranges of incremental and absolute encoders, and feature native compatibility with self-developed SMARTWIN AKS servo drives. Their core distinctions lie in four dimensions: rigidity, load capacity, applicable travel and protection grade. The LMS series is the preferred choice for scenarios prioritizing equipment miniaturization, clean low-load environments and overall cost control. The BMS series is recommended for production lines with travel over 2 meters, medium payloads, workshops with dust and chips, and applications requiring long-duration continuous heavy-load operation.

Supported by a local self-developed manufacturing system, SMARTWIN Intelligent Equipment supplies both off-the-shelf standard LMS and BMS modules as well as customized non-standard travel lengths. These two differentiated product lines fill niche gaps in domestic linear module offerings. They not only meet the lightweight requirements of compact precision equipment, but also resolve common industry pain points including insufficient rigidity and inadequate protection for long-stroke heavy-load production lines, fully covering all application scenarios of linear motion in domestic automation industries.
