SMARTWIN Intelligent Equipment, Manufacturer of DDA Outer Rotor Torque Motors, Redefines Benchmarks for Heavy-Duty Rotary Direct Drive
As a domestic professional manufacturer with full-chain independent R&D and mass production capacity for torque motors, SMARTWIN Intelligent Equipment has launched the integrated DDA series outer rotor torque motors. Supported by three core technologies including symmetrical magnetic field design of outer rotor, integrated high-precision circular grating and integrated large hollow base, the products specifically address structural industry pain points of conventional inner rotor DD motors such as excessive vertical magnetic attraction force, rapid guide rail wear and limited pipeline layout. They deliver high-performance localized direct-drive solutions for semiconductor indexing platforms, multi-station lithium battery rotary tables and large photovoltaic inspection tooling.

The DDA product lineup includes five full-size models: DDA112, DDA140, DDA170, DDA220 and DDA263, featuring complete torque gradient coverage. The smallest model DDA112 delivers a rated continuous torque of 3 N·m and a peak torque of 9 N·m, ideal for micro optical fine-tuning and compact 3C precision indexing stations. The medium-to-large DDA263 offers continuous torque ranging from 70 to 97 N·m with a maximum peak torque of 200 N·m, capable of steadily carrying heavy tooling and large-span linked rotary equipment.Unlike conventional inner rotor torque motors with single-sided magnetic field structure, the double-sided symmetrical magnetic circuit of DDA outer rotors counteracts vertical magnetic attraction force mutually. It drastically reduces radial load on the matched support guide rails, slows down fatigue wear of guide rails from the structural design perspective, extends the service life of the entire motion mechanism, and greatly cuts down the full-lifecycle maintenance cost of equipment.

The motor adopts a direct-drive brushless topology. Finite element magnetic field simulation is applied to optimize magnet and winding layout, achieving ultra-low cogging torque output with outstanding torque ripple suppression across the full speed range. It delivers jitter-free and drift-free positioning under working conditions including low-speed micro-angle indexing and high-frequency reciprocating start-stop, while supporting high-speed operation up to 5 m/s and rapid acceleration & deceleration response. Each unit is equipped with a large fully through hollow bore as standard. Cables, air pipelines and tool transmission shafts can run through the center to avoid interference from external wiring. This facilitates integration of extended modules such as vision inspection and pneumatic grippers, and simplifies the overall mechanical design of equipment. An absolute circular grating encoder is pre-installed at factory delivery. Customers are spared additional selection, assembly and calibration of sensing components. The motor can be directly matched with SMARTWIN AKS series servo drives to build a fully closed-loop motion control system.

The integrated cast base is equipped with standardized mounting flanges featuring unified assembly references, lowering the barrier for mechanical integration. The load is rigidly coupled directly to the rotor without intermediate transmission pairs such as reducers and timing belts, delivering zero-backlash transmission and greatly boosting system rigidity as well as load following performance.Every DDA outer rotor torque motor undergoes four sequential reliability verifications before factory delivery: winding dielectric withstand insulation test, alternating vibration test, and 72-hour continuous full-load aging test, ensuring controllable performance degradation. At present, this series is mass-supplied to automation equipment manufacturers in new energy, precision optics and semiconductor industries, providing stable and reliable domestic core direct-drive components for rotary equipment operating under heavy loads over long duration.
